UPDATE 2024
2024 is the 10 year anniversary of Outrunning Death. I am still down 100 pounds and now 9 years sober. The last few years have been some of my best, and I am grateful for the life journey which has gotten me to this point.
UPDATE 2023
I am currently 220 pounds, and trending downwards. I’ve focused on logging my food intake which I believe is the key to weight management. I continue to run as much as I can which I believe keeps me mentally healthy. It is not easy but it is worth it.
UPDATE - 2021
My weight fluctuated between 196 and 250 over the past 5 years. I stayed very active but when my weight was increasing I was not recording a food log. My key to weight management is logging my food intake. Exercise is important but knowing my calories consumed each day is a must. I am currently at 235 pounds.
UPDATE - 2017
It's 2017, over 4 years since Paul decided to dedicate himself to losing over 100 pounds through maintaining a healthier diet and a more active lifestyle. After completing his first marathon in 2014, he continued his good eating habits, maintained his weight, and has since completed 2 more half marathons in 2016 and 2017. Half marathon #3 is already scheduled for 2018!
