Paul always talked about wanting to run a marathon, and about 15 years ago, he was taking steps towards realizing that goal.  Through his marathon training process he’d lost 60 pounds.  He was running 8 and 9 miles at a time, and he weighed in at 240.  That’s when he hurt his knee.

15 years later, he decided it was time to go for a run again.

Over the previous 12 months he had shed almost 50 pounds by changing his eating habits.  Despite having dropped a significant amount of weight, he wasn’t expecting this to be a particularly easy experience.  He laced up his shoes with the modest plan of grinding out a 1/2 mile.

He got through that 1/2 mile and thought, “That wasn’t so bad, maybe I’ll finish the mile,” and when he finished the mile he was still feeling pretty good.  Ultimately, he finished his run after a mile and half.

Sure, "Guy goes on 1.5 mile run, doesn't die" might not make (most) newspapers the next day, but it's also not too shabby after a 15 year hiatus.  And more importantly than the distance, that run caused the 'fire to be re-lit,' and Paul's goal of running a marathon was no longer on the back burner.

This site isn’t chronicling a fad diet or some kind of miracle cure.  This site is here to chronicle the experience of one guy getting healthier, and all of the hard work that will go into accomplishing his goal of completing a marathon.

There will be no shortcuts.  Just a lot of running, plenty of sweat, some worn out shoes, and a well-earned celebration when it’s all said and done.

So please feel free to browse through the content on the site, and stay up to date on Paul’s progress.  And hey, maybe Paul’s situation and goals sound similar to your own.  If that’s the case, let us know!  Use the Contact/Feedback tab to tell us your story!

Thank you for your time, and enjoy!
